Empowering New Mexico Through STEAM and Robotics

The Desert Ridge Middle School (DRMS) Robotics Booster Club is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education for students at DRMS, Albuquerque Public Schools, and across New Mexico.

Fueling our Future, One Robot at a Time!

We foster creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills by providing financial, volunteer, and tournament support for the robotics program. Through strong community engagement and parental communication, we help students gain hands-on experience, compete in robotics tournaments, and prepare for future careers in STEAM fields. Join us in empowering the next generation of innovators!

Educational Benefit

To promote creativity, collaboration, confidence, and perseverance while also developing critical thinking, problem-solving, strategic, computational, programming, and engineering skills.  Ultimately, this will challenge our students to make them more successful in their academic experience, and foster college and career-readiness.

Tournament Support

To give students the chance to compete in as many tournaments as possible, in order to develop and challenge their engineering knowledge, computer programming skills, collaboration, and perseverance.

Community Engagement

To connect local businesses and organizations with a STEAM program that can help inspire students’ love and experience in STEAM fields, and prepare them to be future community and workforce members.

Parent Communication

To increase family engagement in and understanding of the students’ activities, opportunities, and objectives in the robotics program, and promote closer contact and communication between parents, students, and the robotics program staff.

Our Teams

In our first two seasons, our teams have already had some incredible wins across the state.

In the very first 2023-2024 season, we had two 6th grade teams qualify for FLL States, and one made it all the way to FLL Regionals.

The two 8th grade teams also both qualified for VRC States, and our all-girls team won the State Championship and represented New Mexico at the VEX World Championship!

The 2024-2025 season brought even more incredible teams and successes! See the link for all the team accomplishments!

2025 World Qualifiers!

Congratulations to our 8th grade, all-girls VEX V5 Robotics Competition team that won the top 3 awards at the New Mexico State Championship.

This earned them a spot to compete at the 2025 VEX World Championship in Dallas, TX, from 8-10 May 2025!

Please consider a donation or sponsorship to help this team get to Worlds!

Thank You to our Current Sponsors

And a Special Thank You to Our Family and Friend Donors!

Make a Difference

While we can and will apply for every grant and source to keep this program running, the reality is that this district does not have the funds to cover the costs necessary for each of these teams to compete.

We want to ensure students receive the full benefits of the competitive robotics program with updated equipment and the opportunity to test their engineering and programming skills against other teams.

We would like to raise sufficient funds to meet the programs’ needs, like:

*Team Registration and Competition Costs

*Tournament Transportation and Travel

*Robotics equipment needed throughout the season

Local businesses can have an outsized impact by donating and being recognized as a program sponsor!

Connect your company or business with our STEAM program to help inspire students’ love and experience in STEAM fields, and prepare them to be future community and workforce members.
